How businesses can support the Kaipatiki Project

How you can support the Kaipatiki Project

Corporate Volunteering  Join forces to make a difference by bringing your work-mates to help us in the bush. The heart of Kaipatiki Project is represented by our volunteers, whose help we deeply appreciate. In return we provide a warm, friendly welcome, chocolate biscuits, a warm pot of Cafe L’Affare Organic Coffee. We try to make volunteering with us a fun and fulfilling experience, with a range of opportunitties to get involved.

Donations

We welcome donations that go towards covering some of our basic costs. Giving what you can afford gives a real boost to the amount of good we can do in the environment.
Put simply – $4 pays for a native tree to be grown / $25 pays for one hour of Volunteer Co-ordinator time.

Businesses Help from businesses means the money we rely on from grants goes a lot further.

Businesses can support us by providing:

·       financial sponsorship
·       free or discounted advertising
·       networking and promotional assistance
·       free venues for our events
·       free environmentally-friendly products
·       volunteering of professional time and services

Matariki

Celebrate Matariki at the Kaipatiki Project Centre

Make way for Matariki!

To celebrate the Maori New Year we welcome weavers of all levels to a special four-hour open harakeke weaving class on 28 June (Midday – 4pm) at the Kaipatiki Project Centre.

If you have attended one of our weaving classes before this is a great chance to get together again in good weaving company.

Bring along some harakeke and any items you are working on, start something fresh inspired by others, or learn how to get started and weave some stars to celebrate the first day of Matariki – all under the watchful guidance of tutor Judy Te Hiwi.

$28 per person – book online

Support out in the bush

Groups of work-mates and students have been getting their hands dirty over the past few months to make a difference by removing weeds in Witheford Reserve, Birkdale and out at Hobsonville Point. Whether it’s a full day out with a barbecue lunch, or just a couple of hours break from the office, we always enjoy welcoming volunteer groups wanting to get out, take a break from the norm and do some good in our reserves.

Here we say a big THANK YOU to the good folk of the Korean Language School, ANZ, Waitakere College & Bluelight/St Paul’s.  Chorus, we’ll see you in May!

Can you help us compost your sofa?

We need help compiling a selection of the best composting videos on You Tube (& Vimeo).

We are hoping that some of you might be happy to watch a bunch of videos from the comfort of your sofa and let us know which ones you like the best. Email Hamish with your recommendations.

Tell us your composting story
We are developing a series of resources to help more people compost. We invite you to tell us how you compost, why you compost and to share any advice. We are wanting to compile stories from all walks of life – apartment dwellers, rural folks, renters, older people, younger people, families, suburbanites etc.

An example “I live in an apartment in Mt Eden by myself. I don’t produce much food waste. My sister has a hungry bin worm farm. So every Sunday, during our family get togethers, I give her a container load of food scraps. It works for both of us!

If you want to tell us your story either write between 50-500 words or send us an email with your contact details in it and we can get someone to call you. Read more
