Here’s commentary from the partnership of Mat Scott of Father and Child with Dan Walker of Dell.
From Dan Walker of Dell
Connecting with Mat and Father & Child was a great experience for me. I realised that Father & Child is more than just people who love what they do – they give so much of themselves; It was enlightening to see how their passion for helping men through their roles as parents was bigger than monetary gain or personal interest. I valued the opportunity to help Father & Child and I hope they got value from me.
From Mat Scott of Father and Child
Dan Walker provided the following support to me and the Trust.
He initially spent considerable time understanding Father and Child from an operational and social perspective. He engaged with both myself and Brendon Smith helping us better understand our challenges from a supportive and passionate point of view.
He showed me many options to proceed including how to operate with little engagement from our Trustees as we had done for quite some time. He shared examples of funding opportunities and arranged a stake holder meeting to clarify our future focus. Specifically he recommended that our charity refine our services, making them more accessible with clear goals and outcomes that can be easily disseminated to potential funders.
Dan came to us during a serious financial crisis which was difficult for all concerned. He was pragmatic and at times very direct. He gave some valuable personal advice which enabled a clear forward focus. As a manager, having Dan’s support was fantastic. I felt not only heard but also understood. Dan clearly has an affinity with what Father and Child is trying to do. Father and Child has since become more financially secure and operational changes have been made thanks to his support.
